Tanja Gönner is Chair of the Management Board of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH since July 2012. She studied law and joined a law firm as a partner in 1999.
From 2002 until 2004 she was a member of the German Parliament (Deutscher Bundestag). In 2004, Tanja Gönner became Minister of Social Affairs of the state of Baden-Württemberg; she took over at the helm of the Ministry of Environment in 2005, remained until the beginning of 2010 when she was appointed as Minister for Environment, Nature Conservation and Transport. From 2011 onwards, she was a member of the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg.
Tanja Gönner is a member of the Supervisory Board of the Deutsche Energie-Agentur (dena); she represents GIZ in various advisory councils and business associations, e.g. the Advisory Board of the Federal Academy for Security Policy (BAKS).
