Each year, the UN General Assembly (UNGA) offers a unique opportunity to engage with global leaders from across different sectors whose political will and commitment are essential to achieving clean energy transitions.

As a key partner in UN-Energy and with our CEO serving as Special Representive to the Secretary-General, this is an important moment for our advocacy and diplomacy efforts.

In 2023, we will once again be involved in several key sessions within and around UNGA.

24/7 CFE Panel Discussion

Wednesday 20 September 2023 | New York City | Video recording available here

Hosted by: SEforALL

The 24/7 Carbon Free Energy (CFE) Compact movement was launched by UN-Energy in collaboration with SEforALL at the High-level Dialogue in September 2021 to achieve the goal of decarbonizing every hour of electricity consumption on every grid where that consumption occurs. With over 119 signatories to the 24/7 CFE Compact thus far, the imperative now is to identify how best to utilize this global platform to support signatories on their 24/7 CFE journey and to continue growing the movement to help drive global decarbonization.

This session will showcase results from a new study launched by the 24/7 CFE Compact. The study analyses existing policies, regulations and business models to propose reforms that will shape the electricity industry in a way to allow for citizen active participation in the energy transition, maximizing emissions reductions by increasing energy efficiency and reducing reliance on fossil fuels during the dirtiest hours of electricity consumption.
