Stefano Marguccio
Stefano is the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL). In this capacity, he partners closely with the CEO and Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Sustainable Energy for All and Co-Chair of UN-Energy, governance bodies, and global stakeholders to fast-track Sustainable Development Goal (SDG7): universal access to sustainable energy by 2030 and to advance a just, equitable energy transition in support of global net-zero emissions goals. Stefano also leads SEforALL’s International Engagements department, advancing sustainable energy priorities across major global fora including the G20, G7, BRICS and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), while overseeing the organization’s country offices.
A driven career diplomat and strategic leader with over 20 years of international experience across diplomacy, climate, energy and sustainable development, Stefano brings a strong track record in institutional strengthening, policy diplomacy, fundraising and resource mobilization and programme leadership. He previously served as Diplomatic Advisor to Italy’s Minister of Environment, served as Senior Advisor at the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and represented Italy at key international fora including the United Nations and the Council of Europe.
He has worked and lived across multiple regions — Europe, Latin America and the Middle East — including postings in Albania, France, Venezuela and the United Arab Emirates. Stefano holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Bocconi University, a Master’s degree in Diplomacy from the Institute for International Political Studies of Milan and a degree in Law. He speaks Italian, English and French.
