Mikael Melin

As Director of Partnerships and Development, Mikael Melin oversees the team responsible for developing strategic partnerships and securing resources from diverse funding sources to fast-track actions that meet sustainable energy, climate, and development goals in line with SEforALL's mission.

Mikael has been an integral part of the organization since joining SEforALL at the end of 2017, serving in a range of roles, including working with governments, donors, and strategic partners to amplify cross-cutting opportunities, from accelerating access to clean cooking to mainstreaming gender and youth at the heart of the energy transition.

He brings a proven track record of driving global initiatives at the intersection of energy, climate, and development. As a key advisor to the COP28 UAE Energy Transition team, he spearheaded engagements that resulted in transformative climate commitments, including the COP28 Global Cooling Pledge and the High-Level Dialogues series on the energy transition. He also played a pivotal role in ensuring that access to energy, including clean cooking, was integrated into the main COP28 presidential action programme. His previous tenure as programme manager in European Union Delegations across Africa and the Eastern Caribbean has provided valuable expertise in development and regional cooperation.

Mikael holds a Master’s degree in European Political and Administrative Studies from the College of Europe, Institute of Postgraduate European Studies (Bruges, Belgium) and a Master’s degree in Economics and Business Administration from the Swedish School of Economics and Business Administration (Helsinki, in his native country, Finland.)
