Search Underway for New SEforALL CEO

News

Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) is launching a global search for a new CEO to take up the helm following the recent announcement that Rachel Kyte, the current CEO and Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General on SEforALL and UN Energy co-chair, will be stepping down to take up a new role in October as Dean of the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. The Administrative Board has just initiated a formal search process.

“This is a challenging but exciting time of innovation and opportunity in the energy transition at every level,” said Antonio Mexia, Chair of the Administrative Board. “With the impressive track record and compelling mission that we have in SEforALL, we expect a powerful and diverse field of candidates for the next CEO.”

The Board is committed to moving swiftly while ensuring the necessary time to build a strong slate of dynamic, international candidates. A premium will be placed on individuals with an exceptional blend of strategic foresight and political savvy who can operate at the highest diplomatic levels as well as inspire the global movement behind sustainable energy for all around the world. Updates on progress will be made through the SEforALL website and other communications channels as appropriate.

SEforALL’s ambitious work plan for 2019 is underway focusing global action on the critical path to success in realizing SDG7. From June 18-20, the SEforALL Charrettes will take place in Amsterdam focusing on finance and data collaboration needed to achieve speed and scale. SEforALL was also tasked to support the energy track for the UN Secretary-General’s Climate Summit on September 23, supporting Denmark and Ethiopia to bring forward material commitments that help raise ambition and unite action.

SEforALL recently announced that its 2020 Forum will be held in Kigali: with just ten years to go until the 2030 deadline for the SDGs, the focus will be ensuring no one is left behind.
