Bangkok Thailand, 30 October 2015: Moving forward with a target of achieving 25% of energy from renewable resources by 2012 from its current 10.4% contribution, Thailand is all set to create a dynamic knowledge-based exchange platform under the flagship event Sustainable Energy & Technology Asia 2016 (SETA 2016). The three-day international conference and exhibition, under the aegis of the Ministry of Energy (MoEN) of Thailand, will aim to align the ten developing country members of Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) towards a collective vision of ‘Securing Asia’s Energy Future’ with respect to the environment. This is a big step for Thailand in charting to its own growth trajectory and building an enabling policy and investment environment. Japan and emerging economies of Asia such as China and India have already unfolded their intent towards extensive use of renewables and energy efficient technologies in order to mitigate carbon-emissions. Pushing for the change in outlook, Dr.Twarath Sutabutr, Director of EPPO and Co-Chairman of SETA2016 said, ‘In recent times, the big Energy evaluation of the world is changing. Thailand must adapt and go after fast changing technologies such as smaller modules of power plant, enhanced use of clean technology, advance electrical vehicle technology, etc. Overall, we need to inculcate a stronger sentiment for green and environment concerns along with the other developing and emerging Asian economies.” 35% of Thailand’s energy is consumed by the Transport sector while 37% is consumed by the Industrial sector. In a show of complete solidarity, Ministry of Energy of Thailand will cooperate with Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Transport and Nuclear Society of Thailand to facilitate a comprehensive participation at SETA 2016 and to attract leading academicians, owners of green, affordable and efficient technologies, investors and power utilities. This will also help to broaden discussions; lead to a sustainable technology development path; establish the roadmap for achieving energy independence; drive economic integration and advance cross-border collaboration. With a budget of over 30 million baht, the premier edition of SETA is expected to attract more than 5,000 delegates and visitors during 23-25 March 2016. Focus will be on Energy Policy Planning, Electrical Systems Technology, Transportation and Alternative Fuels and Sustainable Green Energy such as Biogas and Biomass, Solar Wind, Geothermal, Tidal, etc About SETA 2016 The Sustainable Energy & Technology Asia (SETA) 2016 is Thailand’s premier initiative to host a 3 - day International Exhibition and Conference at BITEC, Bangkok Thailand.
