The International Energy Agency estimates that over 30 million jobs could be created in clean energy and low-emissions technologies by 2030, presenting major opportunities for youth and women. However, the supply of green talent is not keeping pace with demand.  Many countries and companies struggle to find qualified talent, while young people — particularly in emerging markets — lack clear pathways into the energy and climate sectors.

To help bridge this gap, Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL), with support from the City of Vienna, Global Neighbours and WienEnergie, will host a dynamic side event during the International Vienna Energy and Climate Forum (IVECF) 2026 titled “Green Skills for the Future Energy Workforce: Bridging the Talent Gap.” Designed as an interactive youth-focused session, the event will bring together young professionals, industry leaders and policymakers through participatory formats including a fishbowl dialogue, skills mapping and structured networking to connect emerging talent with real opportunities in the energy transition.
