Driving Energy Transition and Green Industrial Growth
Tanzania is pursuing an ambitious development agenda focused on expanding energy access, accelerating industrialization and building a more sustainable economy. Recognizing the central role of energy in achieving these goals, the Government of Tanzania has placed clean energy and economic transformation at the heart of its long-term vision.
SEforALL is supporting this transition through a close partnership with the Ministry of Energy. We are developing Tanzania’s Energy Transition and Investment Plan (ETIP) while supporting implementation of the country’s Mission 300 National Energy Compact. Our work focuses on three priorities:
- Energy transition planning and investment mobilization
- Green industrialization and clean technology manufacturing
- Clean cooking and institutional energy access
Our Projects
SEforALL is working with partners across government and the private sector to advance Tanzania’s energy and development priorities. Key initiatives include:
The Tanzania ETIP provides a whole-of-economy roadmap covering power, transport, industry, buildings, clean cooking and agriculture. It aligns with Tanzania’s National Energy Compact, National Renewable Energy Strategy, National Clean Cooking Strategy, NDCs and Development Vision 2050.
Alongside the ETIP, SEforALL is developing a Clean Technology Manufacturing Guide to identify opportunities for domestic production of clean energy technologies, helping attract investment, create jobs and support green industrial growth.
SEforALL works closely with Tanzania’s Compact Delivery and Monitoring Unit (CDMU) to strengthen capacity, track progress and accelerate implementation of the country’s Mission 300 commitments.
Through technical assistance and implementation workshops, we help identify priority investments, capacity-building needs and actions required to expand energy access.
In partnership with the Government of Tanzania and the World Food Programme (WFP), SEforALL is piloting electric cooking solutions in 36 public schools across four regions.
The project supports implementation of Tanzania’s National Clean Cooking Strategy through kitchen upgrades, Electric Pressure Cooker installations, training and technical support. It also promotes gender and youth inclusion through a STEM Trainee Programme, generates evidence on the benefits of eCooking and explores innovative financing mechanisms to support scale-up.
Why is our work with Tanzania important?
Tanzania is demonstrating how energy access, clean cooking and industrial development can advance together. By supporting long-term planning, strengthening implementation capacity and accelerating clean technology adoption, SEforALL is helping build a more resilient and inclusive economy.
The lessons emerging from Tanzania’s energy transition initiatives can help attract investment and provide scalable models for other countries across Africa.
