Africa is at the centre of our work. It is where the need for energy access is greatest and where clean energy investment can make the biggest difference. Since 2011, we have supported 45 countries across the continent, particularly in West and East Africa.
We partner with governments across Africa to expand access to clean energy, unlock investment and build the industries, jobs and skills that support long-term growth. This includes developing Energy Transition and Investment Plans with countries such as Ghana, Kenya and Nigeria. We also manage the Universal Energy Facility, whose results-based grants have funded mini-grids and the electrification of healthcare facilities in countries like Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Madagascar and Benin.
We are also proud to serve as Secretariat to Mission 300, the initiative led by the World Bank and the African Development Bank to connect 300 million people across Africa to electricity by 2030. More than 50 million people have already gained access and we work alongside governments and partners to keep that progress moving.
