Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) in Action in the Gicumbi District -- Rwanda

  On Sunday, 18 May 2014, a day prior to the Africa Launch of the Decade of Sustainable Energy for All, a joint field trip with the Minister of Health, Dr. Agnes Binagwaho, Minister of State for Energy and Water, Emma Francoise Isumbingabo and Dr. Kandeh K. Yumkella, Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Chief Executive of the Initiative on Sustainable Energy for All. They visited two health Centres; the Gigogo Health Centre and the Byumba Health Centre presenting evidence on the link between Energy for Women and Children's Health. They also visited a local community to show case the dangerous effect of indoor air pollution through the use of fire wood, coal which according to WHO kills more than 4 million people (mostly women and children) and more than HIV Aids and Malaria combined.
