Johns Hopkins’ Initiative for Sustainable Energy Policy (ISEP) becomes new SEforALL Partner to support accelerated progress on Sustainable Development Goal 7

News

The Initiative for Sustainable Energy Policy (ISEP), a program at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), signed a Proud Partnership agreement this week with Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL).

The two institutions will work together to further their common vision of universal access to sustainable energy, as part of UN Sustainable Development Goal 7. Despite encouraging gains, overall progress on the 2030 goals is not where it needs to be, especially on access to electricity and access to clean cooking fuels and technologies.

ISEP will support SEforALL’s work in this regard by leveraging its research capacity and communicate its actionable implications. By doing this, ISEP will continue to ensure that policymakers have access to the latest research on sustainable energy access trends. SEforALL will also be able to tap into ISEP’s extensive network of researchers across the world to help formulate tailored policy solutions. “We’re pleased to announce that SAIS-ISEP, part of the esteemed institution of Johns Hopkins University, has become an SEforALL Partner,” said Jim Walker, Director of Partnerships at Sustainable Energy for All, commenting on the announcement. “Reliable data and evidence are key to supporting faster progress on Goal 7 and this partnership will help inform the SEforALL movement.” "This partnership is a breakthrough for ISEP," added ISEP Founding Director Johannes Urpelainen. "Sustainable Energy for All is the leading global platform for clean energy and energy access. Their strategy is informed by the best available evidence, and our team can help with the collection, analysis and interpretation of data. We look forward to a productive partnership."

The partnership will also allow ISEP to benefit from the vast experience accumulated by SEforALL and its network. The partnership encourages both sides to share knowledge of successes and failures, making sure that the research and policy communities learn from the past and improve future decision-making.
