Driving Action on SDG7: SEforALL activities during UN Climate Action Summit week in New York City

News

Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) will be in New York City in the week of the critically important UN Climate Action Summit and UN General Assembly to promote more focused, urgent action towards achieving Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG7) and the Paris Agreement. Key moments for SEforALL during this busy week include:

Energy Action Forum and UN Climate Action Summit

SEforAll is supporting the Energy Transition Track of the UN Climate Action Summit. This track, which is led by the governments of Denmark and Ethiopia, will focus on main elements of accelerating the energy transition, including boosting renewable energy, energy efficiency, energy storage, access and innovation, and mobilizing investments for the energy transition.

One day before the Summit, the Energy Action Forum will convene high-level stakeholders, demonstrating a leap in collective ambition to accelerate action towards sustainable energy systems in order to secure sufficient and sustainable energy to support economic growth, remove energy poverty and reduce GHG emissions.

Invited speakers include Mette Frederiksen, The Prime Minister of Denmark; Sahle-Work Zewde, The President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia; Amina J. Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General, UN; António Mexia, Chairman of the SEforALL Administrative Board and CEO of EDP; and Rachel Kyte, CEO and Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Sustainable Energy for All.

The event will feature success stories from policy, business and finance, and innovators from the community of Ashden Award winners.

Remarks and keynotes will be delivered by H.E. Rasmus Prehn, Minister for Development Cooperation, Denmark; Amina J. Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General, UN; Harriet Lamb, CEO of Ashden; António Mexia, Chairman of the SEforALL Administrative Board and CEO of EDP; and Rachel Kyte, CEO and Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Sustainable Energy for All.
