The Asia Clean Energy Forum (ACEF), held from June 13th to 16th, 2023, in Manila, Philippines, witnessed a significant workshop jointly organized by SEforALL and the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The deep-dive workshop, titled "Empowering and Enabling Market Development on Clean Cooking in the Asia-Pacific," garnered attention as it focused on the crucial role of improved planning approaches and tools in expediting the transition to clean cooking. Collaborating organizations such as UNESCAP, UNCDF, MECS and governmental representatives from Laos, Bhutan, Nepal, Georgia and Fiji contributed to the event's success.
The workshop served as a platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration, fostering discussions among stakeholders from governments, development organizations, and partner institutions. It showcased the commitment of SEforALL and its partners to promote market development for clean cooking solutions, recognizing the significance of partnerships in driving sustainable energy solutions. The insights shared and lessons learned during the workshop will contribute to shaping strategies and actions aimed at achieving universal access to clean and sustainable energy in the Asia-Pacific region.
Setting the stage for the workshop, SEforALL delivered an insightful presentation titled "State of Clean Cooking in the Asia-Pacific Region and the Value of Integrated Energy Planning". The presentation shed light on the efforts of Integrated Energy Planning (IEP) initiatives, highlighting their potential in driving the clean cooking transition across the Asia-Pacific region. SEforALL's comprehensive analysis emphasized the importance of integrated energy access planning, which encompasses a systematic and holistic approach to clean cooking, addressing energy needs, suitable technology identification, financing options evaluation, and policy framework formulation.
