Supporting the SDG7 movement
Beyond our formal partnerships, we work to support a broad array of initiatives pursuing action on Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG7).
We seek to support leaders where possible through inviting them to the Sustainable Energy for All Forum and other events, through profiling their success stories on sustainable energy in our communications, and by consulting and engaging them in the design and delivery of our interventions.
Some examples of our work with different stakeholders can be found below.
SEforALL convenes events like Seven for 7 where we work with Ashden to profile the policymakers, businesses and entrepreneurs leading the way on SDG7.
SEforALL commissions original research into the state of play on the energy transition, like our Energizing Finance series of reports with Climate Policy Initiative.
SEforALL commissions original research into the state of play on the energy transition, like the Energy Access Dividend report with Overseas Development Institute.
As part of our work on Energy for Displaced People, SEforALL serves as a member of the Steering Group of the GPA.
As an important component of our work to benchmark progress, SEforALL is a member of the multi-stakeholder group supporting the annual review of SDG7.
Our CEO as the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative on Sustainable Energy for All serves as Co-Chair and SEforALL serves as a member of UN-Energy to support ambition on sustainable energy within the UN system.
Our CEO is a Commissioner of the Energy Transitions Commission and SEforALL works with the Commission on their different workstreams and publications.
At the invitation of the UN Secretary-General, SEforALL is the lead institution supporting the Energy Transition track, co-led by Denmark and Ethiopia, of the 2019 Climate Summit.
SEforALL is a member of the Vienna Energy Club, which brings together Vienna-based international organizations for discussions and exchange of views on energy.
SEforALL supports and amplifies the work of IRENA towards the achievement of the SDG7 target to substantially increase the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix.
SEforALL works with the IEA on a number of sustainable energy areas, including on Energy Efficiency and Cooling.
SEforALL is an official observer organization of Mission Innovation, attending and contributing to the ministerial level discussions.
SEforALL is an official observer organization of the Clean Energy Ministerial, attending and contributing to the ministerial level discussions.
Through the Energy Transitions Working Group and Ministerial meetings, SEforALL has been invited by the G20 Presidency to provide advice and options for the G20 to increase action on energy access.
SEforALL is a co-founder and steering group member of the SHINE campaign, a network of practitioners and organizations working together with the mutual goal to end energy poverty.
SEforALL is a partner of the Equal by 30 Campaign and encourages organizations, companies and governments to endorse the campaign’s principles and take concrete actions to accelerate gender equality in the clean energy sector, and close the gender gap.
SEforALL has joined the Smart Communities Coalition as a collaborator, working jointly on policy and advocacy around energy access for refugees, displaced people, and the communities that host them.
