SEforALL is aiming to improve planning, policy and regulation frameworks, and unlock finance for 20 high-impact countries, those facing both major challenges and major opportunities in closing the energy access gaps and making the transition to sustainable energy systems. We are particularly focused on Africa and Asia where projected economic and population growth by 2050 will have the most profound implications for people.
Collectively these high-impact countries are home to over half those living without access to electricity globally and over a third of the population without access to clean cooking fuels and technologies. Simultaneously, they include some of the countries with the fastest growth in energy demand and those currently emitting almost 8 gigatons of CO2 of the approximately 50 gigatons emitted globally per year.
In all cases, engagement with the national government is a critical factor in moving forward, as is alignment with donor resources and strategies.
